Costa Brava Villas : Can Girones : Comments Feedback on Can Girones
----- Original Message ----- ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Peter To: villasbarcelona Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2006 8:46 AM Subject: Can Girones Hi Charlie We vacated the villa on Thursday and left the keys for Neus, as she requested, in a pot under one of the outside tables. We left behind one minor piece of damage – on several afternoons there were very heavy winds and one particularly heavy gust picked up one of the poolside umbrellas and, well, smashed it. I hope that this is OK. We had a lovely month in the villa. The excavation work continued for the first two weeks but since it was on the opposite side of the house to the pool, the noise was pretty well muffled. It didn’t disturb us at all except when they started early a couple of mornings. We were really impressed with the way the villa has been set up. It’s unusual to have such a good stock of crockery, cutlery and glasses.and little things like that really count. At the price we paid, there was absolutely nothing we could complain about. I would make a couple of comments, however, for your interest: · There are plenty of big pans but no small ones – they are a far too big for boiling eggs or cooking small quantities · If you want to rent out to the English, you really need a kettle! · The toaster isn’t working · I had to go around the showers and clean the shower heads out with a knife before they worked properly (I presume that the high level of minerals in the local area clogs everything up this way). You may want to ask the cleaners to sort this sort of thing out. That’s it really – minor stuff! Finally, I realize that following the Spanish practice of getting out of the city for the month of August is a must. Can you recommend a house for next year which would allow me to move the family out to close to the coast, have a couple of spare rooms for visitors but is close enough for me to commute into Barcelona for the couple of weeks when I won’t be on holiday? We love Sitges but really anwhere close to clean beaches (preferably with no powerboats, jetskis etc) would be good for us. Thanks again for the recommendation. We’ve had a great month – even taking into account the long commute for me for three of the four weeks….. Everything was perfect! Especially for a group like us where we were several guys staying there. It is not easy to find houses with a lot of single beds. PGA de Catalunya is a good golfcourse. The club was busy beacause there were a qualification for the European Tour there which we attended! We mostly took the car to the course but some walked. It is about 1 km. The house is perfect for a gang of guys on a golf vacation! We were very happy with everything!
