All these properties are situated 90 kms due north of Barcelona, in the central Pyrenean foothills, a scenic but non-touristy area that has been popular with Barcelonans for years. Cal Cosme

up to 19 guests, 8 rooms, 8 baths, wow!  I know this is just the sort of villa many of you are looking for. Whereas so many of these huge houses have lots of rooms but relatively few bathrooms, this house has 8 bedrooms, each and every one with a private bathroom. Cal Cosme is a large farmhouse (330m2), originally dating from the 18thC, newly restored in 2005 with rentals in mind, and sits on a huge property (150 hectaires) in an idyllic spot with majestic views and a new fenced-in 9 x 4.5 meter swimming pool and nice outdoor BBQ dining area.  I know this one is going to be much in demand!

El Turo

up to 19 or so in 9 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, is probably the most impressive-looking house in my entire listings.  Situated 40 kms due north of Barcelona, 2 kms from the handsome village of Castellterçol, El TurĂł is a newly refurbished luxury 9-bedroom mansion on a 10 hectaire hilltop property in the middle of parklands, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, incredible architecture, and great views. Cal Masover del Barbats

up to 19 guests or so in 9 rooms, 4 baths, this huge farmhouse dating from the 17thC is on the same huge farm as Cal Peu Curt and La Serra, and is situated just behind the owners house. Indoors I can highlight the unusually large (60m2) dinning room, and the spaciousness of the bedrooms. Outdoors, there is the new 8x5 meter swimming pool and the covered BBQ area with outdoor fridge, food prep area, seating for over 20, and games for the kids such as ping-pong and babyfoot, all set on a high terrace with unspoiled views of the valley below. Need a big place? This might be the one!

El Pou

up to 17 guests, 8 rooms, 5 baths, this is a perfect example of how you can get so much more house for your money if you are willing to rent further inland. Another large and beautifully restored farmhouse, originally dating from the 15th century, El Pou has a feature many of you will like:  this house was originally divided into two separate independent halves, so there are now two fully equipped kitchens, two elegant living/dinning rooms, two BBQ areas, etc...   Situated in a huge property with great panoramic views (I counted 4 mountain ranges), a nice fenced-in 8x5m swimming pool, indoor play rooms with ping-pong, and lots more. Some houses have an exceptionally nice interior, and some houses have an exceptionally nice exterior, but a chosen few, like el Pou, have it all. Minimum 2 weeks in high-season.

La Cabana

up to 18 guests, 7 rooms, 8 baths, although named "the cabin", this very attractive restored 18thC farmhouse is enormous and quite luxurious, all rooms with private bathroom, several large living rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, the poolside covered BBQ area, and now a huge banquet room of over 120m2. The new fenced-in 9x4.5 meter swimming pool is icing on the cake. Located just outside (a few hundred meters) of Casserres town, this is one of the few villas in the area where you can walk to shops/restaurants/cafés. Nothing like brisk walk early in the morning to get warm croissants for breakfast! Minimum 2 weeks in high-season.

La Barraca

up to 16 guests, 6 rooms, 3 baths, this old renovated farmhouse is situated just outside of Casserres (1.5km) on a huge hillside private farm with a well-kept pine forest . As you will see in the photos, this is a beautifully decorated house, and recently renovated to a high standard of comfort, with some nice extras like the separate building housing a 60m2 play area for kids. The owners have put in a new fenced-in swimming pool measuring 4.5 x 9 meters and there is lots of lawnspace. Until recently, this house was offered in exclusivity (and for double the price) in the catalogue of a well-known, up-market English rental agency. I´m very happy to be offering this villa at its normal, far more competitive rates.

Vilanova de Bernadas

El Moli de Canyelles

up to 14, 6 rooms, 4 baths, is a large renovated 17C millhouse situated next to (what is now) a small stream under tall poplar trees in a pleasant valley location just 2.5 few kms from Gironella market town. This place has a lot going for it: a spacious house with history and character, with a very large (70m2) living/dinning room under high-beamed ceiling on the main floor, a wide lawn on both sides of the house, the front lawn includes the 4x8 meter swimming pool, the outdoor covered BBQ dinning area, ping-ping and babyfoot along with remnants of the mill in the downstairs room, and like all the houses in this area, interesting hikes from your front door. La Rovira

up to 14 or so guests, 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, truly a magnificent farmhouse! originally dating from 1238, the house was last "modified" to its current dimensions in 1765. Spacious (over 400m2 on three floors), well furnished, on a large private property, this is undoubtedly, meter by meter, one of the nicest houses I've seen. Now with a new (2007) large 10x6 meter fenced in swimming pool and covered outdoor BBQ dining area, and only 350 meters walk from the owner´s son´s one-star Michelin rated restaurant, this house offers an excellent price-quality relationship, especially considering the size of the pool!

Casamira

up to 17 guests, 7 rooms, 4 baths, another of those old farmhouses with lots of character that I like so much, Casamira is a very good deal in terms of price-quality. The situation is good: just 1.5kms from Gironella market town, the house is comfortable with decent-sized rooms far apart, the views excellent, the front lawn with the 8 x 4.5 meter unfenced swimming pool is just right (I hate fenced pools!) and there is a covered BBQ outdoor sitting area around to the back, and a ping-pong room one terrace down.  The house has recently been renovated and the description and photos in my website are no longer a true representation of this house. I will remedy this asap (but have to go see it first).  One week bookings welcome in high-season.

Cal Masover de Vilanova

up to 13 or so, 6 rooms, 3 baths, is in a very pleasant setting with dramatic panoramic views. It is also a house that probably has the nicest lawn area and pool of any in this area listing, as you can see from the photos. At 12 x 6 meters, the unfenced swimming pool is larger than usual, in part because it is shared with the very pleasant owners who live in the huge mansion next door. There is a nice vegetable patch which you are welcome to take fresh produce from, and a very handsome new outdoor BBQ dinning are.. Oh, and I should mention that this house is good for young and old alike in that the entire living quarters ia on one level (no stairs) and you can see the pool from the house.

El Cobert de Vilaformiu

up to 10 guests, 4 rooms, 2 baths, this house is a on a horse farm and horseback riding club situated high up in the hills, 4 kms above the regional capital town of Bergá. The house itself is very attractive, the surrounding mountains ideal for hiking or excursions on horseback, the views stunning, and the owners - who live next door and run the riding club - are extremely pleasant. Highly recommended for nature lovers whether you horseback ride or not. Now with a nice new shared unfenced swimming pool measuring 10 x 5 meters.

La Serra

up to 8 guests, 3 rooms, 2 baths, is a neat little house, simple and attractive, with covered outdoor BBQ and ping pong area, some modern conveniences, like dishwasher, DVD + CD player, and good lighting.   Guests at La Serra are invited to use the owners fantastic 10x7 meter swimming pool, about 900 meters or a 10-minute walk away. Highly recommended for smaller families and/or smaller budgets. I´ve stayed here twice myself and liked it!
